Here, Karmel takes us through a day in her professional life…

8:30 AM – Morning Kick-off

Depending on my shift, my workday starts anywhere from 8:30 to 9:30 in the morning. The first order of business is to log on to my laptop and set up my workspace for the day. This entails ensuring I have all the necessary tools and resources at my fingertips to assist our clients effectively.

The initial task of the day is checking my email inbox. This is where the day’s surprises, challenges, and urgent matters often lie. It’s crucial to stay ahead of any flight delays, cancellations, or last-minute changes that might affect our clients’ travel plans for the day. A key aspect of my role is to provide quick and efficient solutions to any issues that arise.

9:00 AM – Urgent Matters and Morning Coffee

Once I’ve sorted through my emails and addressed any urgent enquiries, it’s time for a well-deserved morning coffee. This brief break offers a moment of respite before diving into the day’s requests and planning. As I sip my coffee, I prepare to work through the jobs waiting for my attention.

9:15 AM – Working Through Enquiries

With my morning caffeine boost, I delve into the heart of my role. Most of my day is spent working through client enquiries. These can range from flight bookings and hotel reservations to rental car arrangements and itinerary planning. Each client request is unique, and it’s my job to ensure that every detail is meticulously arranged to create a seamless travel experience.

12:00 PM – Lunch Break

By midday, I’m ready for a lunch break. This interlude provides a moment to step away from my desk, reset my mind, and recharge for the afternoon. I often use this time to catch up on news, chat with colleagues, and perhaps even enjoy a short walk to refresh my mind for the tasks ahead.

13:00 PM – Afternoon Focus

Returning from lunch at 1:00 PM, I pick up where I left off. This includes wrapping up any outstanding quotes, addressing new email requests, and answering calls when necessary. The afternoon is a crucial period for ensuring that all enquiries are managed promptly and that every client’s needs are met with excellence.

Throughout the Day – Collaboration and Support

One aspect of my role that I greatly value is the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues. I often offer to assist my team members by picking up their emails when required. This sense of teamwork not only helps us manage the workload efficiently but also strengthens our collective knowledge and expertise.

5:00 PM – Wrapping Up the Day

Depending on my shift, I finish my workday between 5 and 6 PM. As the clock nears the end of the day, I reflect on any challenges and successes I may have had. Despite the ever-changing nature of corporate travel, there’s a deep satisfaction in knowing that I’ve contributed to making our clients’ journeys as smooth and efficient as possible.
