Ancillary Fees

Ancillary fees charge business travellers for additional services over and above the basic price.

They can be anything from checked baggage, to airline charges for drinks, parking or breakfast when staying at the hotel. Ancillary fees can be difficult to predict and therefore can’t be paid for in advance like accommodation or travel. Due to this, they are also hard to track.

How to help avoid ancillary fees?

It’s difficult to avoid the extra fees when travelling, especially from regular issues such as excess baggage or minibar consumption. So, the first thing to do would be to pay close attention to the breakdown of charges when contracting a service. This will help with reducing the impact of common ancillary fees but does not cover them all.

The main ancillary fees that business travellers face should be included in the expense policy to avoid any terms of conflict.
